Sri Lanka's EDB support to Showcase Innovation at GITEX Expand North Star 2024

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Dubai, UAE, will host the Sri Lanka Pavilion at GITEX Expand North Star 2024 from October 13 to 16, showcasing Sri Lankan innovation and facilitating international business engagements.

Key Highlights:

  • Promoting Innovation: The Sri Lanka Pavilion aims to foster international business relationships through business meetings, networking sessions, and field visits across Dubai, highlighting Sri Lanka’s advancements in technology.
  • Long-standing Participation: EDB has a history of participating in GITEX since 2008, barring 2013 and 2018. The 2023 edition of GITEX Global attracted over 170,000 attendees and more than 6,000 exhibitors from over 180 countries, making it a key event for global tech stakeholders.
  • Focus Areas for 2024: The 2024 GITEX will spotlight nine core technology themes: AI, Telecom, Cybersecurity, Future Mobility, Coders/Developers, Metaverse, YouthX, Sustainability, and the CTO World Congress. The event will run across nine co-locations, including GITEX Global, AI Everything, GITEX Impact, and Future Urbanism.
  • Expanding Sri Lanka’s Global Reach: For the first time, the EDB will support 10 Sri Lankan SMEs and startups at GITEX Expand North Star, the world’s largest investor program, providing them with exposure to potential partners and global market opportunities.
  • Collaborative Initiatives: The Sri Lanka Consulate General in Dubai, Sri Lankan Business Council, and the Sri Lanka IT Professionals’ Association in UAE will also collaborate on a comprehensive programme, featuring visits to GITEX Global, a one-day networking event, and startup incubator tours.

With these efforts, EDB aims to elevate Sri Lanka’s standing as a hub for technological innovation and business excellence on the global stage.
