The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has called for a decrease in the prices of egg-based bakery products following the recent drop in egg prices. According to CAA Chairman Thusitha Indrajith, the cost of eggs, which previously soared, has now stabilized between Rs. 28 and Rs. 35.
Indrajith stressed that bakeries and other related industries should adjust their prices to reflect the reduction, ensuring consumers benefit from the lowered costs. The CAA is closely monitoring the situation to ensure compliance and to maintain fairness in the marketplace.
This price adjustment is expected to ease consumer expenses, particularly as egg-based products are a staple in Sri Lankan households.
