Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake has been appointed as the Secretary to the President by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday (23).
Dr. Kumanayake, who began his government service in 1997 as an Assistant Superintendent of Sri Lanka Customs, holds a BSc degree with first-class honors from the University of Kelaniya. He later pursued further studies in Japan, earning a Master of Public Finance and a Ph.D. in Development Economics from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo.
His expertise lies in customs modernization and integrity development, having served as an advisor for the World Customs Organization (WCO). Dr. Kumanayake has also contributed to numerous international programs aimed at combating customs corruption.
This appointment highlights his significant experience in governance and public finance, key areas for the new administration as it seeks to enhance transparency and modernization within government institutions.
