Following the conclusion of Sri Lanka’s Presidential Election 2024, Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa announced that a special security program has been implemented across the country.
This measure, aimed at ensuring public safety during the post-election period, includes the deployment of police officers, anti-riot units, and roadblocks in strategic locations. These security measures will remain in place until the election results are officially announced.
Thalduwa further emphasized that public marches, both on foot and by vehicle are prohibited for the next week to maintain order. He urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and report any disturbances.
