India’s NSA Ajit Doval Arrives in Colombo to Review CSC

Ajit Doval

India’s National Security Adviser, Ajit K. Doval, arrived in Colombo on Thursday (Aug 29) to advance the ongoing Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) initiative. His visit, which comes just weeks before Sri Lanka’s Presidential elections, includes scheduled meetings with political leaders in Colombo.

Mr. Doval is expected to review the progress of the CSC, which began as a trilateral effort among India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, and has since expanded to include Mauritius and Bangladesh as members, with Seychelles as an observer.

The sixth NSA-level meeting took place in Mauritius in December 2023, with the next meeting set to be held in India later this year. The initiative aims to address security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region, particularly in response to China’s growing influence.
