Rupee Weakens as Dollar Selling Rate Rises to Rs. 333

The Sri Lankan Rupee weakened slightly against the US Dollar on September 9, with the Central Bank’s selling rate rising to Rs. 333.28.

The US Dollar buying rate also increased to Rs. 324.28 from Rs. 323.77 on Tuesday.

The selling rate rose from Rs. 332.81 to Rs. 333.28 during the same period.

Dollar rate moves higher

The latest figures from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka show a day-on-day increase in both the buying and selling rates.

The movement means banks and businesses will pay slightly more rupees when buying US Dollars at the published selling rate.

The rupee also recorded small changes against several other currencies, including currencies used in the Gulf region.

The latest exchange rates are based on rates reported by the Central Bank and reflect the day’s market movement.
